The next meeting of the Southeast Asian Advisory Council will be held on April 17 at 5pm at the NRV Neighborhood House.
At this meeting, the SPD Recruitment Unit and James Hong from Vietnamese Friendship Association will share their goal about how to work with the Asian community. As always, there will have time for you to share with us safety concerns of your neighborhoods and businesses.

Are you interested in learning more about our local Somali Community? The King County Public Education Committee is having another Cultural Awareness Series focusing on the vibrant Somali community in King County. This is an interactive workshop and will focus on:
- General Overview of Recent History and Reasons Driving Immigration
- Background on the diverse Somali Community in King County
- Role of Religion for Somalis
- Cultural Do’s and Don’t’s
- Somali Cuisine and Lunch
- Somali Greetings and Helpful Phrases
- Outreach Strategies
- Challenges of being a Somali Woman Immigrant
- Social Health Issues
This event will be held on April 24th from 12:30pm to 3pm at the New Holly Neighborhood Gathering Hall (7054 32nd Ave S).

The next Community Cleanup will be Saturday, April 14 at 10am. Meet your neighbors for coffee, doughnuts and community service in the Central Park. Grabbers and some gloves provided.
There will be two workparties in the Cheasty Greenspace at Mt. View this month! The first is this Saturday, April 7 from 10am til noon. The second will be an Earth Day event with Seattle Pacific University on Saturday, April 21, from 10am til 2pm.
Current efforts are focused on the new trailhead at Angeline and 27th, and April’s work parties will be about continuing to remove ivy and blackberries and then adding burlap and mulch in preparation for planting in the fall.
Tools and gloves are provided. Bring your own water and dress in layers. Kids welcome!
As a result of continued fiscal challenges and cuts to The Seattle Public Library funding, the Seattle City Council is considering placing a Library levy on the Aug. 7, 2012, ballot to supplement city funding.
The City Council will hold a public hearing to receive community input on this proposed levy. Everyone is welcome to attend and address the City Council.
