Come out and help keep our community looking great! The monthly neighborhood cleanup will be Saturday, November 12 at 10am. Meet in Central Park (or under the awning at the Neighborhood House if it’s raining). Grabber and bags, coffee and doughnuts provided. Bring your own gloves if you have them (although some are on hand if you don’t).

If you need to complete some community service hours for school, this event qualifies.

Are you prepared for winter? Seattle University nursing students are hosting a winter preparedness fair on Thursday, November 10th from 6-8pm at the Neighborhood House in the Paul Allen Room. Stop by, or contact Kate Farmer at 206.461.4568 ext. 211 for more info.

Come out and join friends and neighbors in our local woods on Saturday, November 5 from 10am to 2pm. We’ll be planting lots of trees and shrubs as part of the City-wide effort of Green Seattle Day.

Registration for this event is encouraged. Your registration helps keep track of the interest and involvement in the restoration and improvement work going on at Cheasty Greenspace at Mt. View. Also, there are rumors that there’s free stuff available as thank you gifts for registered volunteers.

Gloves and tools and training provided on Nov. 5th. Please dress in warm layers and rain gear and bring your own water bottle and lunch.

Neighborhood House is happy to announce our second Comcast Internet Essentials Session on Wednesday October 26th from 5:00-6:30pm. This training will take place at the Neighborhood House Rainier Vista Technology Center, 4410 29th Ave. S. Seattle WA.

This 90 minute session teaches the basics of how to use the internet fully and efficiently. It will go over internet safety, how to access online resources and how to take care of your computer.

It is also a great opportunity to learn about Comcast’s Internet Essentials program. Under this program families whose children receive free school lunch may be eligible for Internet services from Comcast for just $9.95 a month.

Construction on the northeast corner of NRV is completed. There will be a Celebration on Thursday, October 20 from 3pm to 5pm at 4200 MLK. Stephanie Van Dyke, SHA’s Director of Development, will speak at 3:30 and appetizers will be served.

Come out and join your neighbors on Saturday, October 8 at 10am at the Central Park for a little neighborhood beautification. Spend an hour picking up litter and keeping our community clean. Grabbers, doughnuts and coffee provided. Bring gloves if you have them; some gloves are available to borrow.

If you’ve got community service hours to do (for school or anything else), this will qualify.

There’s a work party at the new trail in Cheasty Greenspace at Mt. View (right across S. Alaska at the south end of NRV) this Saturday, October 1 from 10am til noon. The surfacing of the new Hazelnut Loop Trail is almost done, there are some turnpike projects and a gabion to fill. Please come on out to the woods to help finish these projects by the end of Autumn.

Meet at 2809 S Alaska Place. Tools, gloves and guidance provided. Please wear sturdy shoes and bring your own water. This is a great project for the kids!

Also, save the date for the November work party, November 6, in conjunction with Green Seattle Day.
