NRV Community Safety Meeting

The NRV Traffic and Safety Committee cordially invites all NRV residents to join your neighbors to

  • address community safety issues around the NRV neighborhood
  • improve community safety through education; come learn how to engage with neighborhood police officiers
  • share ideas for effective public safety programs and community involvement
  • meet representatives from the Seattle Police Department, the Neighborhood Security Patrol, and SHA Property Management

Southeast Asian Community Advisory Council meets Feb. 21

The Southeast Asian Advisory Council meeting is on third Tuesday of every two months. This month will be on Tuesday February 21, 2012 at 5:00 PM in the Paul Allen room at the Neighborhood House (4410 39th Ave South).

Please attend the meeting and bring up your ideas or issues for the group to discuss. Your participation is very important and beneficial to SE Asian businesses, the SE Asian Community, as well as the citizens of city of Seattle. Your voice is very important to us; please come to share your concerns.

If you have any questions regarding of the meeting or you have any issues you wish to discuss during the meeting, please contact Linh Thach at 206-612-8572, Trong Tang at 206- 467-1785 or Sompasong Keohavong at 206- 679- 7575 so that your concerns would be included in the agenda for discussion.

One Economy Mobile Tax Preparation Van coming to the Neighborhood House

Confused about how to file your taxes? VITA-Certified volunteer tax professionals will show you how to file your taxes online, step-by-step, for FREE!

Appointments are available on:

  • Friday, February 17th - 11am – 7 pm
  • Thursday, February 23rd - 9 am – 5 pm

The Van will be at Neighborhood House Rainier Vista on Friday February 17th and Thursday February 23rd to assist individuals who earn less than $57,000 a year with their taxes.

Next Neighborhood Cleanup on Saturday

Come out for the monthly Neighborhood Cleanup on Saturday, February 11, at 10am. Grabbers, bags, and some gloves are provided (if you have your own, please bring them!). Take an hour, spend some time with your neighbors, have a doughnut, and help keep NRV clean and tidy.

Community Safety Meeting

There is a Community Safety Meeting on Monday, Feb. 6 at 7pm at the Lakewood/Seward Park Clubhouse (4916 S. Angeline St). This is a joint meeting of the Lakewood/Seward Park Community Club and the Southeast Crime Prevention Council and will be attended by City Councilmember Bruce Harrel, SPD Chief of Police Diaz, City Attorney Peter Holmes and SPD South Precinct Captain Nolan.

A huge community turnout will help drive home the point that Southeast Seattle residents take our community safety seriously. Come if you can.

Neighborhood House needs an exercise instructor

News from the Neighborhood House Technology Center

The Technology Center at the Neighborhood House offers opportunities to access the internet, attend classes on computer skills, get help applying for jobs online, or help finding social services online. Staff are available to answer any questions and teach classes. Come visit soon to get connected!

Learn the basics of computers from how to use a mouse, how to type, navigate the internet, or any other skills you would like to learn!

Job Search 101
Fridays from 2-3:30pm
Get help with making a resume and applying for jobs online.

Youth Tutor Time!
Thursdays from 5:30-6:45pm
Youth who need computers for their homework assignments are invited to attend and work with staff to complete their work!
