  • improve community safety through education; come learn how to engage with neighborhood police officiers

  • meet representatives from the Seattle Police Department, the Neighborhood Security Patrol, and SHA Property Management

The Southeast Asian Advisory Council meeting is on third Tuesday of every two months. This month will be on Tuesday February 21, 2012 at 5:00 PM in the Paul Allen room at the Neighborhood House (4410 39th Ave South).

Please attend the meeting and bring up your ideas or issues for the group to discuss. Your participation is very important and beneficial to SE Asian businesses, the SE Asian Community, as well as the citizens of city of Seattle. Your voice is very important to us; please come to share your concerns.

The Van will be at Neighborhood House Rainier Vista on Friday February 17th and Thursday February 23rd to assist individuals who earn less than $57,000 a year with their taxes.

Come out for the monthly Neighborhood Cleanup on Saturday, February 11, at 10am. Grabbers, bags, and some gloves are provided (if you have your own, please bring them!). Take an hour, spend some time with your neighbors, have a doughnut, and help keep NRV clean and tidy.

There is a Community Safety Meeting on Monday, Feb. 6 at 7pm at the Lakewood/Seward Park Clubhouse (4916 S. Angeline St). This is a joint meeting of the Lakewood/Seward Park Community Club and the Southeast Crime Prevention Council and will be attended by City Councilmember Bruce Harrel, SPD Chief of Police Diaz, City Attorney Peter Holmes and SPD South Precinct Captain Nolan.

A huge community turnout will help drive home the point that Southeast Seattle residents take our community safety seriously. Come if you can.

Neighborhood House would like to offer a women-only exercise class for community members and is looking for a volunteer instructor. If you know someone who might be interested in teaching yoga or aerobics, please contact Kate at katef@nhwa.org or 206.461.4568 ext. 211.
