Pledge time for Cheasty Greenspace at Mt. View
Posted by: webmaster in Landscaping, VolunteerThe folks restoring and improving our local urban forest, Cheasty Greenspace at Mt. View, are currently applying for their third round of funding from the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods. They are seeking $20K from the city, but they need to match that (or more!) with volunteer contributions. One volunteer hour is worth $20. Pledge 10 hours (easy to do if you can commit to 3 or 4 of the monthly work parties in the next year) and that’s a pledge worth $200. Work parties not your thing? Here are other needs:
- Community outreach: pass out flyers to your neighbors about work parties or upcoming fundraising events. Pass out posters to area businesses.
- Donate cash; people who want to donate $ can donate directly to ARC (Associated Recreation Council-our fiscal sponsor) with instructions for the money to be used for us — and since ARC is a 501(c)(3), donations can be written off on taxes.
- Get a group together from your office or neighborhood and come out for a special day of service! We have organized service days for Earth Day specific events and other agencies, schools or organizations. We would love to help you get out there volunteering with your friends and other community members!
If you can pledge time or funds to the continued forest restoration and improvement project at Cheasty Greenspace at Mt. View, please email Mary DeJong at mdejong@spu.edu with your name, address, email address, phone number, the type of support you can pledge and the number of hours.
