Neighborhood House at Rainier Vista is looking for a volunteer to instruct a sewing class with about 8 participants. The instructor will teach a basic sewing class in the mixed-income Rainier Vista community. Class participants will include East African, and Asian residents, some of which have limited English skills but who are eager to learn sewing skills. The instructor should prepare a series of informal lessons that include a project or two that participants will find useful. Class participants will have varied levels of sewing and English abilities, so an instructor should be flexible and patient.
The sewing class will be offered on Mondays or Wednesdays (depending on the availability of the volunteer instructor) from 6 to 8 PM and start in February or March. The instructor and Rainier Vista Site Manager will discuss further details of the class, such as length of time the class will be offered, etc.
