Looking for opportunities to help out in the Rainier Vista community? The Technology Center is looking for volunteers to assist during classes and open lab times:
Digital Connectors Classroom Assistant
Neighborhood House is looking for enthusiastic and encouraging volunteers to engage with talented youth in the Digital Connectors program. Students enrolled in the program receive intensive technology training, as well as leadership and workplace skills. The primary goals of Digital Connectors are to bridge the digital divide and encourage participants to engage in their community through sharing their new technology knowledge. Classroom volunteers provide individual support to students, assistance to the instructor, and provide other general classroom support. This is a great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of youth by working with a diverse, friendly, and motivated group of young adults ages 15 to 21. Volunteers must be patient and tolerant. Volunteers for this position will need to be available at the Rainier Vista site, 4410 29th Ave. S, Seattle, WA 98108 on Mondays or Tuesdays from 5 to 7:30 PM. A commitment through June 2011 is preferred; however, single quarters of service can be arranged.
Open Lab Assistant
The Technology Center at Rainier Vista is looking for volunteers to assist during the afternoon open lab, M-F from 3:00-5 PM, or some Saturdays 11AM-4PM (or any portion of that time). Volunteers in the technology center during open lab will assist lab staff in creating a welcoming and supportive environment for participants of all ages and cultures. Volunteers may help students in the computer lab with homework, learning the basics of computers, and other computer related tasks. Volunteers will also assist in enforcing operating procedures and rules with youth, adults, programs and the larger community. Volunteers for this position will need to be available at the Rainier Vista site, 4410 29th Ave. S, Seattle, WA 98108 during weekday afternoons. A commitment of one to two days a week is preferred.
Please contact Heidi, 206-461-4568 ext 202 or heidiv@nhwa.org for more information on using the Technology Center or for volunteering. Thank you!
