The Neighborhood House has a new volunteer position open and is looking to fill it, preferably with someone local. The Youth Tutor and Technology Volunteer will assist youth (primarily ages 12 – 19, but younger children too) with their computer-based homework and learning activities. Working with the Computer Lab Coordinator and Computer Coaches, volunteers will encourage and assist youth to use technology productively to complete school assignments, increase their technology skills, and complete a variety of technology-based projects and experiences.
Neighborhood House is looking for someone who can provide volunteer support a minimum of one afternoon a week (Monday through Thursday; 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm). You should be comfortable working with youth, able to communicate effectively, be familiar with various computer programs and tasks (Word, Powerpoint, Internet research, graphics), and be able to assist youth with homework and basic academic skills. Responsibilities will include assisting youth in the computer lab to complete homework and learning activities, helping prepare and facilitate technology-based activities for youth, monitoring computer lab activities to ensure safe and proper use, helping prepare and maintain the lab equipment and being a positive roll model.
