Just a reminder that the monthly meeting of the Multicultural committee this Wednesday, September 17th, from 6:00 to 7:30 at Neighborhood House. As a way of trying to get to know one another better, we started doing “interviews” at last month’s meeting. Our own David Leong volunteered to be the first interviewee - thanks David. Then, gratefully, a woman from the African community volunteered to be interviewed this week. Plus, we will again ask members from the different communities what most concerns them or their children. Last month, after the meeting, some woman came up to me and expressed concerns about their sons joining gangs. I hope we can see what part we can play to help the young boys and men of this community grow up safe and supported. Part of that, I suspect, will
be finding ways to help the parents be aware of the signs and take early steps. Your ideas or your knowledge are appreciated.
We’ve missed a couple of months on our community cleanups due to summer schedules, but the next one is this Saturday, Sept. 20. Come on down to the Central Park around 10 am for coffee and a donut and about an hour of picking up litter around the neighborhood. It’s fun and a good way to meet your neighbors or get reaquainted. Bring gloves if you can, trash bags, grabbers and some gloves will be
provided. See you there!
